Why do the patterns not specify the yarn or needle size?
Our patterns work with any yarn and needle size. By entering your knitting gauge, we get all the information needed to build your custom pattern. Just use the needles you used to knit your swatch, or follow the suggested needles on the yarn label.
Can I add a pattern repetition to all patterns?
Currently, you can only add a pattern repetition to the body of the Mitten and Sweater pattern. We plan on adding it to the Sock and Beanie as well.
Will you be adding a round yoke sweater?
Yes, its on our to-do list! Round yoke sweaters are a staple in Icelandic knitting (its how we knit most of our "Lopapeysa"s), and we're working on adding them to Knittable.
Will you be adding a cardigan?
Yes, for sure! But until we do, you can use the Sweater pattern and steek it (or modify it to be knitted back and forth) along with the Buttonhole calculator to create a cardigan.
Can I publish the Knittable patterns as my own?
You're welcome to use the numbers and sizes from your Knittable pattern as a reference when writing your own pattern. However, you cannot publish Knittable's pattern text as your own. If you'd like to publish the pattern text itself, please contact us at hello at knittable.com for more information.
General
What is Knittable?
Knittable is a web-based knitting pattern generator that helps you create custom knitting patterns for sweaters, socks, mittens, and beanies. Simply input your measurements and knitting gauge, and we'll generate a personalized pattern for you.
Why is a part of the page in English?
This can happen when we release a new feature or update the website, but haven't translated it yet. We want our users to benefit from fast releases, so we sometimes publish updates in English first, rather than delay them while waiting for translations.
How do I change the language of the website?
You can change the language of the website by clicking the world icon in the top right corner of the page.
